METHOD AND APPROACHES

Relational Psychodynamic Therapy

Relational psychodynamic therapy emphasizes the impact of interpersonal relationships on mental health. It focuses on the therapist-client relationship to explore the client's relational patterns and emotional experiences. By understanding these interactions, clients gain insight into how past relationships shape their current behaviors and emotions, promoting healing through authentic connection and emotional support.

Trauma-Informed Approach

As a trauma-informed therapist I have studied and been trained on the profound impact of trauma on an individual’s life. Together we create a safe, supportive environment, emphasizing trust, and transparency  to build a strong therapeutic relationship. With knowledge of the nervous system, I can support you in recognizing how trauma affects brain function and body responses, then tailor our approach and interventions to see what works best for you to promote healing and resilience. Being trauma-informed I assess and identify signs of trauma, avoiding re-traumatization, and employing empathetic, validating techniques that respect your experiences and coping mechanisms.

TIST:

The Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST) model is a trauma-informed parts model that integrates principles and techniques drawn from Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems, clinical hypnosis, and cognitive restructuring methods. It offers a clear, practical, and neurobiologically grounded path to healing. By re-framing extreme behaviors and inner fragmentation as protective responses to trauma, it combats shame and self-loathing, and it changes the client’s relationship to the symptoms.

TIST is designed to work with clients who have experienced prolonged trauma, especially in early life. These clients often suffer from emotional flooding, shame, dissociation, and extreme inner conflict. Many are caught in cycles of suicidality, addiction, or self-harm.

Flash Technique

Originally developed as an addition to the preparation phase of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), FT has been demonstrated to be effective in reducing the disturbance level associated with severely painful memories, sometimes in as little as ten to fifteen minutes. Like EMDR, FT utilizes eye movements or alternating tapping and is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain. This is a technique that can be utilized in session when things feel too distressing.

Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapy is a type of mental health counseling that focuses on the connection between the mind and body and uses physical interventions to support clients in building and attuning to their body and mind to learn how to identify and release emotions and utilize movement, breath, and voice to release and express feelings.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms. Ongoing research supports positive clinical outcomes, showing EMDR therapy as a helpful treatment for disorders such as anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences.
